Hello, Mishkan Ha'am family and friends,
Rabbi Ben says Jews don't celebrate the solstice, the longest day
in the year--at least not with a specific ritual. But we'll have the
opportunity to meet on that day--this Friday, according to
Wikipedia--and the next day, and greet the summer in our unique M-H way.
Friday, June 20, Shabbat services, 8 pm, led by Rabbi Benjamin Weiner. All are welcome.
Saturday, June 21, Tot Shabbat, 10 am, led by
Rabbi Benjamin Weiner. Bring your child or children age 7 or younger,
to the final Mishkan Ha'am Tot Shabbat of the season. Play music, learn
new Hebrew songs, listen to stories, dance with a stuffed Torah,
practice a sign language
Shema! The service is designed for
children up to 7 years old, but all ages are welcome. Mishkan Ha'am
membership is not required. Oneg Shabbat to follow. RSVP is not
required, but is appreciated; e-mail Sara and Channing at
thestave3@yahoo.com.
Saturday, June 21, Havdallah program, 8 pm, led
by Rabbi Benjamin Weiner. Ben will accompany Havdallah with Yiddish
songs and stories. Be there for the fun, and for the latest Havdallah
candle-lighting time of the year!!!
Monday, July 8th, Steering Committee meeting,
7:30 pm at Rosa Leader-Smith's house. Newbies and member
neophytes, please join us. This is where the decisions get made,
the jokes get told, and the M-H cameraderie is thick. And if you stay,
we'll give you a free puppy. (Not really, I just wanted see if you were
paying attention.) E-mail Rosa at
rleadersmi@aol.com for directions.
Keep in mind...
This weekend marks the last "regular" Mishkan Ha'am weekend until
early September. Mishkan Ha'am will host one family Shabbat service on
a Saturday morning in midsummer, most likely involving a nature walk.
Watch for my e-mails and check
www.mishkanhaam.org
for more information. And look out for info on Hebrew School and on
upcoming fall events. Sue Adler, our new calendar chair, is already
hard at work planning for next year.
Remember to donate to Mishkan Ha'am
What a great way to commemorate a birthday, anniversary, wedding,
birth, Bar or Bat Mitzvah, graduation, ordination, promotion, or any
other simcha (happy time), big or small. You can also honor a
teacher or remember a loved one. Your donation is fully tax-deductible,
and your funds will go toward our enriching programming throughout the
year.
Have a great rest of the week, and I hope to see you this weekend.
Tobie
