Upcoming Events:

There are many opportunities to participate in fun and rewarding social action activities this fall.

We are continuing our monthly commitment to serve lunch at the Yonkers Sharing Community , a homeless shelter and soup kitchen.  On the second Sunday of each month, 4 MH volunteers, (any combination of teens and adults as long as one adult is present) serve lunch to up to 200 hungry people.  If you are an individual, or group of 2, 3 or 4, and are interested in participating, contact Joyce Bluestone at joyceblue@optonline.net.  We need servers on October 9, November 13 and December 11.

Also, we are planning to come together as a congregation to cook an entire meal for the Sharing Community.   Feeding people at the Sharing Community is an easy, hands-on way to make a difference.

Our knitting circle will resume late fall (dates to be decided). This year we will knit squares that will be joined to make a blanket for a hospitalized child. Multiple generations come together for this relaxed and cozy activity. Seasoned knitters will help novices get started. If
interested, contact Monica Rickenberg at
monicaian@aol.com.

MH teens and adults will participate in Breakfast and Midnight Runs. Midnight Run is a volunteer organization dedicated to finding common ground between the housed and the homeless. The early morning and late-night relief efforts involve distributing food, clothing, blankets and personal care items to the homeless poor on the streets of New York City, as well as creating human connections between housed and homeless people.
Our group will join members of the First Unitarian Society on September 18 for a Breakfast Run, October 14 for  Midnight Run, November 12 for a Breakfast Run and December 80 for a Midnight Run. If you or your teen is interested, please contact Joyce Bluestone at joyceblue@optonline.net.
